About me

Before coaching doctors I worked for 25 years as a publisher of medical textbooks and manuals that have sold worldwide in over 20 languages: from the Eureka series to the Illustrated Textbook of Paediatrics; from the Moorfields Manual of Ophthalmology to Gray’s Anatomy.

Not only did this experience give me an understanding of medical school curricula, postgraduate training and the branches of clinical medicine and surgery, it also taught me how to help doctors maximise the impact and clarity of their language.

In 2019 I decided to combine my background in medical education with my passion for languages. After taking my CELTA at International House London , I secured OET accreditation in early 2020 before going on to coach OET students, PLAB 2 candidates and IMGs needing help with their medical English. I’ve been a member of the European Association of Language Teachers for Healthcare since 2020.

I speak fluent French, basic German, and can understand written Russian, Italian and Spanish. As a lifelong language learner I know how difficult it is to gain proficiency in a second language. I strive to make my coaching sessions varied, challenging and fun. My materials are adapted from published sources or written myself. Crucially, they’re always written from a medical perspective.

We’ll use Zoom to meet online and I’ll use Microsoft Surface and OneNote technology to replicate the spontaneity of a physical whiteboard. After each session you’ll receive a copy of our whiteboard work and a video recording of our session.

Based in central London, a stone’s throw from world famous Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals and near to King’s College Hospital, Barts and UCH, I can work with London-based clients on-site as well as online.
